Joyful Sneak Peak

I used this weeks Amy R Friday Sketch for my card.  She has a guest sketcher for this week, Tammy Fetcher.  Here's her sketch...

Emma was a bit too tall for me to make this sketch work for me in this landscape form, so I turned it to use it as a portrait sketch.  I have one important tip for you when you use sketches - try and remember that sketches are merely guidelines and it's okay to stray and stretch your interpretation of the sketch into a loose resemblance.  Just go with your feeling as you are creating.  However, this does not apply if you are entering a contest or there are rules.  You all know what I mean.  Anyhoo, hope you're having a blast this weekend.  Have an even better Sunday! Artful INKables Release Number Three!

Here's my favorite release from Artful INKables this month! It's my Mikki! No, not really...it's actually a sketch designed around Kristin's doggie. But that's okay. I'm sure many of you will see a resemblance of your own furry friend in this set. There are 2 other doggies, 4 sentiments, and 4 dog related images.

I actually used some Prisma colored pencils but they got lost in the mix. They were brown pencils that I used to enhance the fur on Mikki. The doggie is actually a deeper brown than Mikki, but I didn't want the doggie to be too light it's far more interesting to have him colored in shades of brown. Copics used...

Just in case you're wondering, here is a picture of me and my little firecracker Mikki! Isn't he the cutest?!!! I took this picture with him on the same day I took my head shots for the blog. I call him my firecracker because he is one. He is truly my protector. He actually sleeps with us in our room and situates himself between Travis and I...not because it's comfy...but because he doesn't want Travis near me. hahaha! He loves Travis, but if he had a choice of who lived and died, there would be no question for my little Mikki. (BTW, in case you're wondering, he's half Shih Tzu and half pomeranian.)

Artful INKables Release Number Two!

Here's another sneak peak for all of you! Orange You Sweet! While this set is very unique, it wasn't the one I was referring to yesterday; it is tomorrow's release that has me very excited and anxious about showing you! But back to this set... I love this set because the size of the stamps are rather large. This makes for very pretty and stunning cards. Remember these four new sets will be available for you to purchase on August 14 at Artful INKables.

I really like to use ChatterBox paper in the CuttleBug embossing folders. This is a time where a lighter weight paper can be advantageous in your crafting. The ChatterBox paper gives you a nicely defined embossed image. Sometimes the paper does crack in areas, but you can use a sand block to sand the top of the embossed surfaces. This adds nice texture and defines the embossed areas beautifully. I have used this technique on the green background.

Hope all of you have a good start to your week! AND I hope all of you are enjoying the Olympics. I haven't watched the opening ceremonies, but I have it on tape. However, I did see the dramatic end where the guy flies in the air to light the torch. I screamed when his belt holding him up seemed to "snap". My heart dropped for a second. Then I realized it was part of the show and I calmed down. I can't imagine those people with bad hearts that saw that moment. lol I wonder if anyone had a real heart attack? Maybe Beth was working in the ER that night. We can ask her. Anyhoot, have a wonderful Monday!

BTW, I'm still behind on emails! Please accept my apologies. I am working on them slowly but surely! I am officially a month behind; I'm working my way up from July 11. Yikes! Mahalo for understanding!

Sneak Peak Time At Artful INKables

I've been waiting a long, long time to give you a sneak peak of the new Artful INKables stamp sets. Finally, the day has come!

Today I'm proud to bring you Paradise Island. This set is jam packed with stamps, literally. The second I got them they were all laid out on my desk. When it was time to put them away I couldn't! I had to ask Travis to try and piece all the stamps back into their CD case. LOL. So just a quick tip. When you get your stamps take them out one at a time, otherwise you'll spend an extra couple of minutes piecing together the stamps so they all fit.

This set is SO much fun to work with. I'm in love! But I may be biased. heehee There are 7 images including a beautiful Hibiscus flower, and 4 sentiments. Pure stampers heaven! This set, along with 3 others, will be available on August 14.
