Hello and aloha! I've missed all of you so much! I would like to send a very special mahalo and thank you to all of you who took time out of your day just to send me a little "Pick me up" note! They were very thoughtful and it made me smile.
As I get older I find it harder and harder to travel and adjust to time changes. Coming home from Houston was nothing short of horrible for me. We had two pretty long legs: one 6 hour leg and one 8 hour leg. Yowwwzzzzers! The 5 hour time difference made it difficult for me to get back on schedule when I got home. In Houston, I religiously woke up at 7 am every morning and turned in at 10 pm every night. So when I got back home I consistently woke up at 2 am every morning and feverishly yawning at 5 pm at the office. I finally snapped out of it only a few days ago if you can believe it. I feel much better now that I'm beginning to function as a normal human being. Did I mention that I got sick again too? But I think getting sick after a trip is a given; it's almost a guarantee in my book. The travel agency should include a Z-pack and a box of Kleenex with every purchase of a trip don't you think?
I also had to take my pediatric midterm a few days after I got home from Houston. The following week I had a huge presentation due on cystic fibrosis. It was really busy for me during the weeks after the trip. So in a nutshell, that's why I was MIA for a few weeks. I just didn't have the time to do anything creative. Besides, I was in bed before I even had a chance to pick up a stamp. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Okay so lets get to this card. The stamps are from
The Cat's Pajamas. The particular set I'll be sharing with you today was used with all three cards that I am sharing with you today:
Hearts and Flowers.
For this particular card I knew I wanted to give it glitz with glitter and also have an Asian edge to it. I couldn't find Asian paper in the colors I needed. I wanted red and green incorporated into the pattern. Then the light bulb went on. "Ping" Christmas paper! I rearranged the cartons of paper to reach my Christmas paper that was nicely tucked away out of sight. No sooner than a few seconds had gone by and I had found "the" paper. It was perfect. So this is a good lesson. Tip #79 - lots of seasonal papers can be used in every day projects. Many of the patterns are actually quite neutral, meaning they are not strongly Christmas or Easter-ish. You just have to be patient and be willing to look through and sort through the paper. In these economic times we're all trying to find little ways to cut corners.
